Investing Our Money June 27, 2008
Posted by jewel in Business, Money. add a commentIn time when inflation rate has rising high over the increase rate of our income, we have to look for other way to keep up with it. Saving your money at the bank? It sure does safe, but the interest rate is lower than the inflation rate. I’m sure we don’t want our money wasted just to pay the bank administration charge. So what should we do? Investment is the answer. We have to invest our money to investment instruments available on the market. The question is, do we have the knowledge to do it? As commoner, we have little knowledge in this field. That’s why we need Investment Advisor like George Divel to help us determining how we’re going to invest our money. He has 10 years of experience in this field, so we can be sure that we’re in the right hand.
Commenting and how to make use of it May 29, 2008
Posted by jewel in Blog, Internet, Money. 4 commentsOne of my habit is to comment on anything, whether it’s person appearance, website, advertisement, and much more :D My mother used to remind me to stop if I start to comment on a person appearance ^^;; Gladly I’m over it now. But this unique skill of mine actually can be rewarded. Recently, I’m interested in a program which you can get paid to comment on something. No, I’m not kidding. It’s true. You could make money from it. How’s so? It’s easy. A blog is all you need. Just register yourself, submit your blog, and start commenting on something. I’m trying my luck at Bloggerwave now. If you interested, come over and try it yourself ;-)

Waiting for my Amazon Cheque April 25, 2008
Posted by jewel in Money. add a commentIt’s almost the end of April and I’m still waiting for my cheque from Amazon. It was sent on the same period as google’s check, but my google’s cheque arrived faster. It took only 2 weeks to arrive though I used regular service *not DHL* What a great service :) Let’s pray so my amazon cheque won’t get lost on its way to my house ^^;;
Oh, talking about cheque, I’m still searching which bank that can accept google’s cheque with low processing fee. I’ve tried Citibank Kelapa Gading, but they won’t accept it if I don’t open an account there :( *you stingy bank :P* I think it’s all just an excuse for their laziness :P How come they won’t accept it? On the cheque, it’s written that it’s payable at Citibank! Maybe I’ll try Bank Syariah Mandiri. I hope the processing fee isn’t too expensive, otherwise, what more can I spend from that tiny amount of money ^^;;
Making Money from Internet March 18, 2008
Posted by jewel in Internet, Money. 1 comment so farSince July 2007, I’ve started to make money from the internet. I’ve joined Google Adsense and Amazon Associate Program. I should have tried it since 2003, but the thought of internet scam made me ignore it. So, how’s the result? Not really good actually to make me quit from my real job ;-) After joining for about 8 months, I’ve only managed to get $126 from Google Adsense and $145 from Amazon Associate. If only I have internet connection at home, I think my result will be much better than that ;-)
Other thing that I want is selling stuffs on the internet. My plan is to sell handcrafted stuffs which is unique and can be customized. Of course, before the online store could be opened, I need to have somethings to sell :D Currently, I’ve made some crocheted dolls in the forms of cellphone key chain. My sister promised me to sell some of her felt dolls too. Hopefully this store will run at the end of March.
Have you got any other idea on how to make money from the internet? Please share :-)
Too many ideas, but not one being done properly March 13, 2008
Posted by jewel in Business, Money, Personal. add a commentFor the last one year, I’ve been engaged actively in finding information about how to run your own business. I joined a business mailing list to see if I can find another business idea to enrich mine. At first, I was very enthusiastic to follow the news and had so many ideas in my mind that I wanted to pursue. So far, here’s the list of what I’ve tried:
- Selling shaved cone ice cream. I did have some plan about how to sell it and how to make the ice cream, but somehow, I didn’t follow it up. So, it ended up somewhere in my computer.
- Selling pempek in my office. Result: only 1 batch of order. I did have my “modal” back with a little profit. But I stopped selling it cause I wasn’t quite comfortable in selling food in my office. I always think that I wasn’t the kind that will be success in selling something directly. Why? I don’t know. Maybe I just need some more courage. So, there goes my career in selling pempek.
- Selling muslimah outfit. Only once though ^^;; One day, I wore my new outfit to office. My friend was interested in it and want to buy it. I told her I could help her to buy it. So, that’s it. I bought the outfit at the same place, gained a little profit from it to cover transportation expense, and sold it to my friend. She still wanted another outfit, but I haven’t had the time to search it. So, until now, I haven’t processed her order.
- Selling martabak har (well known food in Palembang). My family have tried to sell it in Bekasi using consignation method. But it didn’t work well, the location of the food stall wasn’t very good. I spotted a good location at Otista street, but until now, I haven’t had the nerve to ask the owner.
- Publishing an agenda for daily muslim activity. This one is still an on going process. I’ve reach 75% of it. But until now, I stopped working cause my computer crashed and I don’t have the software installer. And I also lost the momentum of Islamic New Year this year T_T What a pain.
There are other plenty of ideas that I didn’t mention here. Although I never had a loss, but the profit I got wasn’t significant. I think my problems are :
- I had so many ideas that I didn’t have time to focus on one.
- I don’t have a gut to try selling things to friends or people I know. There’s some kind of uneasy feeling in me. So I guess I still have to found out how to get rid of this uneasy feeling.
Last but not least, I’m proud that I have tried. There are still some actions that I’ve done.
Borrowing a phrase from a friend in my mailing list: “No action, nothing happen. Take Action, miracle happen”. I can’t wait to see when that miracle happen to my business life ;D
Tips on How to Save Money for Everyday Life February 28, 2008
Posted by jewel in Money, Tips. add a commentFor many people, not having enough money is common problem. I too have this problem ;) My salary as a back office staff at a global company isn’t huge enough to buy all the things I need. So, I do these steps to save more money in my piggy bank :
- Put aside take-out fast-food. Bring home-made lunch to work. This way, I can cut lunch allowance from my list. Plus, I am certain that my lunch is hygienic, healthy, and you could practice your skill in cooking ;)
- Watch DVD at home instead of watching at the cinema. Popcorn and drinks are cheap & easy to be made. As for me, I prefer my own home made popcorn cause I could pour tons of caramel on my popcorn as I like. But watch for diabetes though ;)
- Charge your cellphone, mp3 player, etc at the office. Although it’s not really significant to cut your electricity bill, but hey..at least you try :D
- Walk or jog around your neighborhood instead of going to the gym. Walk as much as you can if the the destination is not far away. It’s good for your heart and body. Besides, you can get to know more about your neighborhood.
- If you like reading a lot, only buy those books which you like best. Stop by at nearest library to read the interesting-but-not-so-worthed-to-be-in-your-collection book. It’s better if you can find a friend with the same interest like you and share the list-to-be-bought book together and swap them if you done reading yours.
- Buy in bulk things that you always need and frequently use like rolled tissue, soap, etc
- Control your desire to buy all the cute things or gadget when you go to the mall. Only bring little cash in your pocket so you can’t afford it and don’t ever use your credit card. Think that all those things are only a short trend. There’s no problem in not following it. You are what you think you are. Don’t let other people put some silly thing into your mind.
That’s what I’m doing. Feel free to add some more if you have any :)
