My Crochet Project : Little coin purse or Wallet?

Crochet, Hobby May 6th, 2008

I’ve started to begin another crochet project since 2 days ago. I started to make a wallet in mind, but as I’m progressing, plus the wrong height of my crochet, it’s more suitable to be made as a coin purse ^^;; In making this project, I don’t follow any pattern nor create my own, just go with the flow. I don’t know what it will be look like though :P I use green acrylic yarn and crochet hook number 2. I should have used thicker yarn, but that’s all I got. My yarn order at Tobucil hasn’t been processed yet although 2 days has passed. This is my first order with them, I wonder whether they have late response like that as normal practice :( So, look forward to my future post, and see if I can nail this project or fail miserably ^^

Crocheted Coral Reef?

Crocheted Coral Reef

This afternoon I spent my time browsing the internet, like always ;-) If you like crochet, you must be amazed of what I found cause this project is so amazing. It combines Math, Art, and Skills all together. How cool is that! What I’m talking about is the Crocheted Coral Reef project, which was exhibited by Institute for Figuring (IFF). They actually put the brief instruction of how to make it, but since I’m a beginner and I can only read japanese pattern, I can’t figure it out T__T Please please teach me how to make it. IFF said that it’s actually a traditional technique which is called “increases”. I know how to do increase, but I need to know the exact pattern so I won’t mess it up ^^;; Oh, one more thing, they also inform that this coral reef project works best if you use cheap acrylic yarn. What a great relief since I use that type of yarn most all the time*poor me* For more info and images about this project, you can go to their website (IFF - Crocheted Coral Reef).

My hobby: Making Crocheted Dolls (Amigurumi)

Crochet, Hobby, Personal March 24th, 2008

Egg dollI got hooked with crochet since I bought an Amigurumi book in Japan with the help of my friend, Kus. Although the book is written in Japanese, it didn’t withdraw me from learning it by myself. Please note that I can’t speak Japanese ^^;; After some unsuccessful tries and pain on my middle fingers, I managed to crochet some dolls. Some of my first attempt dolls can be looked at my photo gallery in flickr. So far, I have crocheted some egg dolls, jelly fish, little basket, elephant, clouds, frog, little balls, flowers, and the last one is a little mouse. I can only read Japanese style crochet pattern until now because they are easier to follow compare to American style.

Here’s the list of my online source of pattern :
Rakuten.co.jp
Clover.co.jp

If you have the same passion to crochet, please inform newbie like me where you get your free pattern, especially Japanese style crochet pattern. Thanks ^^
