Unfinished Crochet Projects

Crochet August 29th, 2008

I guess I’m a lousy crocheter *is that the right term ? ^^;;* I often left my crochet project unfinished, there they are, lying around waiting for me to be work on ^^ Up to now, I have 3 unfinished projects :
1. Round Coin Purse
Round Coin PurseBelieve me, at first, I was only trying to make a little blue ball. Then I got distracted somehow. At the end, I found myself working on a round coin purse ^^;; So I made this without any pattern at all. I use cotton yarns that I bought from Natalia, a friend from Mari Merajut mailing list.  Why I left this project unfinished? Well, it’s because of the zipper. I don’t know how to sew a zipper. My super mom was out of town, so I have no one to ask :P Now that she’s come back, I guess I can finish it soon ^^

2. Teddy bear
Teddy bearI always want to crochet a teddy bear. At first, I want to make a teddy bear that looks like the one that Mr. Bean had, you know, the brown teddy bear. But I remember that I haven’t tried changing yarn color since the first day I learn crochet. So I decided to practice my skill. The result was great. The teddy bear looks more colorful and cheerful, right? Since I can’t find the exact eye just like in the book, I left this teddy bear eyeless :P I promise I’ll finish it once I found the perfect eye :P

3. Pencil case
I didn’t take the picture cause this pencil case is still a long way from finish ^^;; It’s only 1 centimeter high from the base. So I guess nothing much to show here :P I’m anxious about the end result. Since I made it only from cotton yarn, will it be stiff? I guess I’ll find out after I finish it ^^

Did you notice, all three projects are using the same color variation. Why? Did I fancy the colors? Yes, I did. But the exact reason is, it’s because I only have those 3 yarn color, so I didn’t have many choice I guess ^^;;

My Mom’s New Project

Misc August 29th, 2008

My mom is the handy man *or should I say handy woman ^^* in our family. No, it’s not my dad believe me ^^;; It seems weird, but that’s the fact ^^ My mom is the one who understand how to install the water filter for our aquarium. She’s also the one who understand what’s wrong with our jet pump. She’s the one who made the light bulb decoration for our house on Indonesia’s Independence Day *this bring back my bad memory when I got a shock from electricity due to my foolishness by touching the bulb fitting just when the power was on :P*
dragon fruit plant

Yesterday, she finished another project of hers. A big pot and its creeping pole *forgive me for the wrong term I used here ^^;;* as a medium to grow a dragon fruit plant. She used PVC pipes, a medium size wire net, palm fiber *ijuk in Indonesian ^^;;*, a big plastic pot, and soil + sand for the medium to grow. When you look at it, it looks like a small monument or modern art statue ^^;; I hope her dragon fruit plant will grow bigger. I believe it will, cause she has the green hand ^^

Baking & Decorating Cupcakes

Cute, Hobby August 26th, 2008

Cupcakes decorated by using icing plastic and butter creamLast Saturday, I joined a short cooking class held by Kotak Kue. The topic is baking and decorating cupcakes ^^ I decided to take that class cause I was quite bored lately ^^;; So I thought I need a new activity to try on. There I was, at 9 am, along with 13 other students with the same interest ^^ First we were introduced to the ingredients, what brands that are suggested by the teacher, and some tips when mixing the ingredients. We were devided into 3 groups. We’re going to make vanilla, chocolate, orange, and cheese cupcakes. The process was quick. In short time, we already put the dough into the oven.

Cupcakes decorated by using butter creamThen we moved into decorating part. First, we were taught to decorate the cupcakes using icing plastic. We could made it by ourself, but it’s easier to buy one at store ^^;; I’m not really good at carving or forming a 3D figure, so I just used available molds ^^;; Another way to decorate cupcakes is by using syringe. We can use many kinds of syringes to make different style on our cupcakes. To make it prettier, we can add any kind of sugar sprinkle on top of it.

Here you can see my cupcakes *remember, I’m just a newbie :P*

Browsing as long as I want :D

Internet August 25th, 2008

Hurray!!! Finally, I have unlimited internet connection at home :D The internet service provider that I’ve been laid my eyes on finally came into my area. The timing was so perfect. Two weeks before, my family decided to subscribe to Telkom Speedy Time based (Quota: 50 hours per month). Its monthly fee is Rp 200.000. My father even had contacted them to come and install the modem. Too bad no one came into our house. Then a day after, came a newsletter from First Media, informing that they will install the equipment to enable internet cable in our area. Hurray :D FYI, we’ve been waiting for this service for 1 year until they finally came ^^;; Imagine, with Rp 99.000 per month, you can get unlimited internet connection with max speed 384 kbps. Now I can browse as long as I want without having to worry about the over time :P

The side effect from this, now I spent less time in crochet than before ^^;; All of my crochet projects are on hold ^^;; waiting for me to be finished ^^;;

One afternoon at Pasar Ikan Hias ^^

Personal August 1st, 2008

Last Sunday, I went to Pasar Ikan Hias Jatinegara with my family. We went to buy Ikan Cupang for my little cousin’s birthday. After looking around, we decided to buy 5 pairs of Ikan Cupang. I myself buy a pair of cute little Puffer Fish. It looks like the one from Finding Nemo movie, but without the spine. The seller ask for Rp 10.000 for a pair of the little one and Rp 15.000 for the bigger one. I ask for Rp 5.000 for the little one and he agreed to sell it *yayy* Because it was a hot afternoon, I decided to wait at PGJ with my little cousins, while my father went to buy some fish food. When we met back, I saw he already brought a pair of cute little rabbits, one is gray, and the other is yellow. Ouwww….so cute XD He bought it for my mother ^^ She wanted one since she saw my neighbor’s rabbit ^^;;

A day after, I asked my cousin how’s his fish doing. He didn’t want to answer, but after a couple of persuasions involved, sadly, all the fish are dead. I couldn’t hope for more from a five years old boy ^^;; But he blamed his younger brother *which is three years old* for making his fish dead :P There goes my Rp 50.000 :P

My RabbitsYesterday, one of my rabbit dead, the yellow one. From the first time we buy it, it didn’t look energetic like the gray one. But I didn’t suspect it will gone too fast, it’s only 3 days old at my house T_T My poor rabbit T_T The only thing left is its picture I took a day before its dead T_T

Earlier before, my turtle was also dead. It actually looked okay before. I suspect it was dead because it was upside down for a long time and can’t return to the normal position. Human could be dead if he/she is hung upside down, so maybe turtle could too ^^;; *what a really wild guess :P*

How bout my puffer fish? It looks okay, but I’m afraid that it’s after the tail of my gold fishes ^^;; Hehehe…seems like all of our pets are in trouble ^^;;
